Def Leppard’s singer Joe Elliot recently criticized AC/DC’s handling of Brian Johnson’s departure. Johnson left AC/DC due to hearing problems in 2016. Axl Rose filled in for Johnson for a number of dates in 2016 across Europe and North America.
Since then Johnson has been trying to find a solution for his hearing problem and has made a number of live appearances.
During Elliott’s recent interview on “Life in the Stocks” podcast he was asked about the situation in AC/DC.
“I can’t speak for Angus and his team a to what the reasons were for doing what they did…but considering we had a drummer lose an arm we waited for him, the way they dealt with it was not the way I would have done it, put it that way”
Elliott went on to praise Axl Rose filling in for Johnson saying “I saw some stuff on YouTube, and I think he did a pretty good job, actually.
Elliott said he was a fan of the Jobnson era of AC/DC but the most recent lineup wasn’t “really AC/DC anymore…basically just Angus and the other four now”
