Playing with the Foo Fighters, Singing Happy Birthday to Slash and Headlining Download Festival To Name a Few!
Guns N’ Roses have had a pretty terrific 2018 so far. They re-released Appetite for Destruction and toured Europe. Today we take a look back at some of the best Guns N’ Roses moments of 2018 so far in no particular order.
Foo Fighters and Axl Rose, Slash and Duff Jam Onstage to ‘It’s So Easy’
Who would’ve thought that Dave Grohl and Axl Rose would ever share the same stage? I guess the good will between the two musicians started in 2016 when Grohl lent his throne to Axl when he broke his foot during the band’s show at the Troubadour on April 1, 2016. Check them out playing ‘It’s So Easy’ in Firenze, Italy in June of this year! Don’t let Taylor Hawkins fills distract you!
Guns N’ Roses Add ‘Shadow of Your Love’ to the Setlist
Lots of fans were anticipating that ‘Shadow of Your Love’, the band’s “new single” to celebrate the Appetite for Destruction reissue would be played as part of the band’s European tour this summer. They were correct! While it wasn’t played at the band’s first show in Berlin, it was played at the subsequent shows after that starting in Odense, Denmark. This would mark the first time the song was played live in over 30 years!
Guns N’ Roses Add Velvet Revolver Song ‘Slither’ to the Setlist
It was originally part of the alternate setlist dating back to 2016, but never made an appearance until Guns N’ Roses most recent tour. ‘Slither’ was first premiered live by the band in Berlin, Germany and like almost every other cover the band has played it’s a regular part of the setlist. Apart from Frank screwing up the intro it sounds reasonably good.
Axl, Slash and Duff Play Download Festival 30 Years After Fan Tragedy
In 1988 Guns N’ Roses played the Monsters of Rock Festival (now called Download Festival) at Donnington. Tragedy struck when two fans were crushed to death. Many in the media blamed Guns N’ Roses for the fans deaths. Thirty years later Guns N’ Roses played a more well mannered show at the Download Festival. ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘It’s So Easy’ proshots are available online. I’ve included ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ below!
Axl Rose Gets the Crowd to Sing Happy Birthday to Slash at Guns N’ Roses Show!
At Guns N’ Roses last stop in Iceland Axl Rose got the crowd to sing happy birthday to guitarist Slash who turned 53.
Guns N’ Roses Re-Release Appetite for Destruction
Many had wondered why Appetite for Destruction was never reissued on it’s 30th Anniversary. Well, only a year later we would get the reissue that many fans were hoping for. While it didn’t feature many goodies that fans hadn’t previously heard and the band never promoted it and it cost an arm and a leg, it at least gave me hope that we will see a ‘Use Your Illusion’ box set in the future. After the 30th anniversary of the ‘Use Your Illusion’ albums is coming up in 3 years.
