Doug Green Talks About Taking Scott Weiland to Rehab

Alternative Nation reports that Doug Green who was Scott Weiland’s former solo band guitarist discussed taking the singer to rehab.

Late Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland’s former solo band guitarist Doug Grean gave his first interview since Weiland’s December 2015 death on the AlternativeNation.net affiliated podcast Appetite for Distortion, hosted by Brando. AlternativeNation.net reporter and freelance writer Doug McCausland co-hosted the episode. Grean worked with Weiland for 15 years, including recording Happy in Galoshes and The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. Their working relationship ended a few years before Weiland’s death.

Grean has a new web series called ‘Starman’, loosely based off his experiences working with Weiland, with the character being a drug addicted British rocker in his 60’s who believes aliens are after him.

Grean also revealed that he took Weiland to rehab 11 times. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.

“It was hard to keep him on the straight and narrow, so I was a good influence, we would go to meetings sometimes, I don’t know, whatever we would do. I took him to rehab 11 times or something, so many times, so many different rehabs.

Every one of them was like a funny story attached to it, because he didn’t want to go. Several times we had limos, I don’t know why we needed a limo to go to rehab, but he would just have us go all over town before we would get there. We would finally get there at 1AM after making 10 stops.”
