Chris Cornell’s Widow and Soundgarden Maybe Close to Resolving Dispute Over Unpaid Royalties
Last month, Vicky Cornell, the widow of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell filed a suit in the Miami Division of the U.S. District Court’s Southern District of Florida. She accused her husband’s former band Soundgarden including their living members — Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Hunter Benedict Shepherd — and business manager Rit Venerus of keeping royalties that are owed to her husband’s estate. She claims that the band and their management have been trying to force her to hand over unreleased recordings her husband made before he passed away in May of 2017.

Viky has claimed her husband made the recordings by himself and they were not intended for Soundgarden so they have no rights to them. Despite this, she has claimed that she’s willing to hand over the recordings, but only if Cornell’s former producer is involved in the album project. In addition to that she wants to be kept in the loop regarding the marketing of the album, so her husband’s wishes can be respected. S
Vicky claims that she and the band and their management agreed to the demands, but they have since gone back on their word and claim ownership over the recordings.
There has been a new filing and the defendants have asked for an extension to answer the complaint. It could mean that there is a possible settlement coming. The defendants have asked for about a two week extension from January 15 to February 3, and the request has not been opposed by the plaintiffs in the case. The new filing states:
“Moreover, Defendants Venerus and Cal Financial are exploring a possible resolution of this matter. Accordingly, the additional time to respond is in the interest of judicial efficiency.”

Michaels made the revelation to his fans on his official website his official web site. He revealed:
“After a very recent kickoff to the new year, physical & MRI it has been brought to my attention that I have torn my right shoulder rotator cuff which would answer the question why it looks like a lump or bone was sticking out of my right shoulder. A little more complex I will also have to undergo a procedure to remove skin cancer that was detected after a recent biopsy.”
I’m in the hands of incredible specialists who are both positive for great outcomes. It may slow me down a bit at the beginning of the year, but if God willing I promise this year will be awesome. Just a few less solo shows & special events until I get this all squared up. As always continuing great diabetic maintenance to keep on rocking in 2020!”

Even though Poison is hitting the road with Motley Crue, Def Leppard, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts this summer he’s got his own solo shows still going on. His next solo show was scheduled for January 23rd in Catoosa, Oklahoma at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
This isn’t the first time he’s had a health scare, a decade ago in 2010 he suffered a brain hemorrhage, underwent heart surgery and an emergency appendectomy all in one year.
Michaels looked back at that time in his life telling People Magazine last month
“I dealt with a lot of health issues during that year, and by the grace of God and a lot of hard work and therapy, I’m still on the good side of the dirt and having a good time,”
The Poison frontman has long suffered from Type 1 juveile diabetes and has given back raising funds not just for diabetic charities, but St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PetSmart charities and more.
