A Look Back at Ritual De La Habitual from Jane’s Addiction

Today we take a look at one of my favourite bands, Jane’s Addiction. Following the release of their 1990 album “Ritual De La Habitual” the band virtually imploded and wouldn’t reconvene for almost a decade, but they still toured as a farewell to their fans. Check it out below!

Slipknot Frontman Corey Taylor on Quitting Social Media

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor recently revealed to the Irish Times that “been off social media for six months.” Now to be fair his account is managed by a professional social media expert, but the frontman revealed he got off social media because of trolls and “people being mad” online.

The rocker claimed that trolling was “enough not to ever go on social media again,”

story continued below…

“When you don’t give them attention, they turn on you. I have had to deal with some serious stuff because of that. It’s called cybertrolling. In a lot of ways it really is stalking. It’s the darker side of fame that people don’t want to talk about. It’s everybody from me to Chrissy Teigen. If you don’t give them the right kind of response, they will come after you in the dirtiest ways creating different accounts under different names. … It is social mania. It’s ridiculous.”

The absence from social media has also led to Taylor being able to appreciate the world around him and get his news without the filter of biased reporters.

“I don’t miss it at all,” Taylor explained. “Here’s the thing. It made me go back and read the news again. I read the news every day. It’s not like I’m not up to speed with everything, but now I’m not getting reactions to news stories. I’m not barraged by a bunch of memes in reaction to a news story here or there.”

Slipknot is currently on tour throughout Europe and will return with some summer tour dates. Check out their tour schedule here.

Dave Grohl Appears to Do a 180 on Creed Years After Mocking the Band

One of the notable feuds Dave Grohl has been involved in over the years was with the band Creed when he mockingly sang their song “With Arms Wide Open.” Last week it came up again when Grohl was at the 11th annual Dimebash where he sat down with Variety to discuss the song and of course Pantera. Grohl was joined by Dimebag’s longtime girlfriend Rita Haney. He first said the following about Pantera:

story continued below…

“I remember we were all fans of Pantera, and we would watch those Pantera home videos and we’d think, “Dude, my God, that band is just like the people that love that band,”

“And so to do something like this where it’s to break it down into a backyard barbecue, it just makes it perfect.”

It wasn’t just the music that impact Grohl though. It’s how Pantera ran their business as a band that inspired Grohl too with the frontman saying

“The way that the Foo Fighters work and run our organization has a lot to do with [what] we learned from the Pantera camp. You want to host a party, you want to make sure that everybody’s having a good time backstage. You want to be a great band, you want to make sure everyone has a drink. You want to make sure that the fans are included.”

Grohl was also asked which song he’d like to perform at Dimebash as the finale with all the musicians on stage he answered

“Listen, I happen to think that ‘With Arms Wide Open,’ by Creed, is one of the most amazing songs of all time,” Grohl admitted. “I have a real soft spot for ‘With Arms Wide Open.’ And I would have no problem getting down on that

Grohl also answered questions about Foo Fighters’ next album, their follow up to 2017’s “Concrete and Gold.” Grohl was cryptic saying.

“It’s the record that we’ve threatened to make for a long time. We’re finally doing something that’s surprising even us.”
