26 Years Ago GREEN DAY Released “Dookie” & Brought Punk to the Mainstream

26 Years Ago Today GREEN DAY Released “Dookie”

26 years ago today the pop-punk band GREEN DAY released their first record on a major label titled “Dookie” and it was a massive success. It spawned numerous singles including “Basket Case”, “When I Come Around,” “Longview” and “She.” The album ushered in a short period of time where punk rock was the new “in” thing and grunge was well an afterthought. Other bands like THE OFFSPRING, and RANCID followed in their footsteps. Check out our retrospective of the album below!

GREEN DAY in the meanwhilehas a new album coming out next week called “Father of All….” and is about to hit the road with WEEZER and FALL OUT BOY on the “Hella Mega Tour” this summer.
