RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Reveal Why They Never Kept JOSH KLINGHOFFER Following JOHN FRUSCIANTE’s Return

JOSH KLINGHOFFER Discusses Not Being Kept on When JOHN FRUSCIANTE Returned to the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist FLEA just revealed to fans on social media why the band rejected the idea of having two guitarists in the band when JOHN FRUSCIANTE returned late last year.  During JOHN FRUSCIANTE’s last run with the band, they added JOSH KLINGHOFFER to play rhythm guitar so some fans wondered why they just didn’t repeat that.

One fan wrote to FLEA on Twitter, “We want Frusciante AND Klinghoffer in the band!!!”

Another fan followed up by writing “It seems an egregious error to delegate Mr. Klinghoffer to rhythm guitar duties with Frusciante in the band. A slight to both men and their abilities. Besides, he has things he wants to explore with his own band. Of course that’s just my humble opinion.”

Recently departed guitarist JOSH KLINGHOFFER recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Volume West show about a possible two guitar lineup. He said the following:

“I was going to make some joke about socks coming in pairs. I would say that’s a question for those guys. Since I didn’t see this coming, and I didn’t have a vote in this, obviously that’s for them. I think the band, not to say that there wouldn’t be nice things created in that situation, but I think the band has always had this great sort of equal split of the instrumentation. It’s very balanced, and I would be very nervous that it wouldn’t be the case.”

He added:

“I don’t look myself, I learned that lesson. I’ve never been a big fan of social media stuff, but when I joined the band I learned very quickly, and made a rule for myself, you can’t look. Even when I put out this Pluralone record, I was looking around one night, and you see 10 wonderful supportive things, and you see one person, and I’m thinking about it today. That was two months ago.”
