PHIL ANSELMO Reveals The First Time He Met PANTERA

PHIL ANSELMO Revalls Meeting PANTERA For the First Time

PHIL ANSELMO of PANTERA was recently interviewed on the Horns Up Rock Youtube Channel and talked about the night he met the other members of PANTERA. He revealed the following:

INTERVIEWER: Did you know who the band was already? Were you, like, ‘Let’s go try out and maybe I’ll get the gig?’,”

“There was nobody better than me around, and I knew that, and I knew what they needed. First and foremost, I was very aware of who they were because of the circuit that we played.

“We played a similar circuit of clubs, and they had this incredible reputation – they were always touted as ‘the band that was going to make it big from the South,’ for a metal band.

“Playing heavy metal, [my hometown] New Orleans wasn’t on the map at all. Texas had its brief moments, but never really something tremendous that you could say, ‘This is pure heavy metal.’

“So I flew down and I listened to the new Pantera. I could tell that they were very intrigued and interested in getting more aggressive with their music, more up-tempo, and that’s when the work began.

“And I remember that night very well, I remember the whole thing. It was great chemistry, and to be that young and to be in a room with those fellows playing as excellently as they did was… it was massive, it was a privilege, it was incredible.”

BLUR’s Infamous Interview with Canadian Journalist Nardwuar The Human Serviette Is Super Cringe Worthy and Disrespectful

Back in the early 2000’s Canadian journalist Nardwuar the Human Serviette interviewed the British Rock Band Blur and the interview was…well rude and cringe worthy. Check out the story behind the interview below!

Could Coronavirus Cause GUNS N’ ROSES To Cancel Summer Tour?

GUNS N’ ROSES have been on their never ending “Not in This Lifetime Tour” for the past five years, but it seems like coronavirus could put a stop to it. Just in the past week we’ve had major bands including GREEN DAY, SLIPKNOT and others cancel their tours in addition to festivals (South by Southwest) completely being cancelled. GUNS N’ ROSES are slated to play South America this month and then head off to Europe this summer. Everyone thought new music may get the band to stop touring, but it maybe coronavirus. Given that we keep hearing about “social distancing” meaning people avoiding each other, a rock concert is probably one of the last places people want to go. Let’s wait and see.

Back in 1988, GUNS N’ ROSES embarked on their first headlining tour across Australia. Opening for the band was a local band called Kings of the Sun. Apparently GUNS N’ ROSES opener wasn’t a fan of the band and bad mouthed GUNS N’ ROSES in the press, which frontman AXL ROSE soon learned about. Check out the story in today’s video!

MICK JAGGER Would Leave the Stones To Pursue a Solo Career

Back in 1984 MICK JAGGER took a break from THE ROLLING STONES to pursue a solo career, which didn’t sit well with his bandmates, most notably KEITH RICHARDS. Check out the story of his first solo record “She’s the Boss.” and how it represented a stark departure from the ROLLING STONES classic sound.

JOSH KLINGHOFFER Reveals How He Joined The Band

Former RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist JOSH KLINGHOFFER  was recently interviewed on the Marc Maron Podcast and revealed how he joined the band in 2007 during the Stadium Arcadium tour saying:

“Gnarls Barkley, maybe through a label, they start opening for the Chili Peppers in the Stadium Arcadium period. This is great for me because I’m friends with them, so I’m in there. How did that happen? There was a cancelation due to the snow storm, so there was a makeup show on one of the legs, and Gnarls decided at the last minute not to go down to Mexico.

But because I’m friends with the Chili Peppers, I’m like, ‘You guys are crazy, Mexico City is the greatest place to play. Expletive you guys, I’m going to go with them.’ So I go, and I hadn’t seen John in awhile, because I had been on tour, so we hung out, it was fun.”

SuperHeroSong posted on the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS subreddit  “In the podcast Josh states that he dropped out of High School at age 15 around 1995 and practically just stayed in his room playing guitar all the time. He started playing with Bob Forrest when he was 17 in 1997 and the Bicycle Thief record was released in 1999. The guitar playing in that record is very sophisticated, it amazes me how talented Josh became at such a young age. It’s crazy how he and Bob met at just the right time and how that eventually led to Josh joining RHCP. A lot of similarities between John and Josh.”

In other RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS news, the band revealed why they never kept JOSH KLINGHOFFER on board to play rhythm guitar and other instruments on tour.

I think it’s crazy they let Josh go and didn’t keep him. What are your guys thoughts.
