The Tragic Story of Seattle Band The Gits
Today on Rock N’ Roll True Stories I wanted to take a look at the tragic story of the Seattle punk band The Gits and the death of their singer Mia Zapata. The Gits were an up and coming rock band who was on the verge of signing with major label Atlantic records, but tragedy would destroy the band’s career. In July of 1993, singer Mia Zapata was brutally murdered late one night on a deserted street in Seattle. Today we explore the history of the band and whether the murderer was ever caught.
The Gits story is something I came across in the great book “Everybody Loves Our Town” which came out several years ago and there’s a whole chapter dedicated to the group. There were some good things to come out of the tragedy like the community rallying around the band and Home Alive organization being created that helps teach women self defense skills.

Guns N’ Roses Cancel Summer Touring Plans
To know one’s surprise Guns N’ Roses will not be touring Europe this summer. The band made the announcement today on social media, but didn’t outright scrap all the shows. Instead, they maybe rescheduled at some point in time. Check out the announcement below!
GN’R Fam: Sadly the upcoming European tour will not be happening. Things are changing daily and we want to keep our fans, crew members and band safe. We are working hard with our promoters, venues and cities/countries on next steps and will make further announcements as soon as we can.
Thank you for your patience. We will get through this together and look forward to seeing you all very soon …
