Sammy Hagar Drops Van Halen Bombshell

In a new interview with former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar he revealed how he thinks that there will be a Van Halen reunion in the near future

Talking to Rolling Stone, Hagar still holds out hope that we haven’t seen the end of Van Halen with him fronting the band telling the magazine:

“Until Ed or Alex Van Halen die, they’re not finished. Those are two great musicians that can do as good as most people at half-mast. As a drummer and as a guitarist and creative person, Eddie, I can’t see them ever being finished. I wish they were more active, but I think Van Halen will never be finished.”

“If they want to get it together, they just have to call Dave or have to call Sammy. They can go out with Wolfie as a trio, but that’s not the legacy of Van Halen. I think they know that. I’m not predicting what’s going to happen, but I would tell you if there’s concerts next year, Van Halen will probably be on tour next year.”

Last year it was revealed that the band was planning on touring in 2019 and Van Halen even reached out to former bassist Michael Anthony, but things fell apart. It had been reported that guitarist Eddie Van Halen was dealing with cancer with Hagar telling the magazine

“I don’t know exactly what happened to him, but I think he had back surgery,” . “Eddie had a lot of health issues, but I heard he got it together. I pray for the guy and I love the guy.”

The relationship between Sammy Hagar and the Van Halen camp has been frosty to say the least. Hagar last played with the band on an ill-fated 2004 summer tour. In 2016 both Eddie Van Halen and Sammy Hagar exchanged a few nice words with each other on Eddie’s birthday, but that’s been about it.
