Foo Fighters Frontman Dave Grohl Attacks Critics

Dave Grohl Reveals Some Critics Hated Him For Starting Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently appeared on a new Apple Music interview and said the following:

story continued below…

“There’s some journalists that are just like, How dare you played music after Nirvana.’ I’m like, What am I supposed to do? We tried really hard to do it right. Instead of jumping on a tour opening up for some massive arena band at the time, we thought, Okay, well let’s get in the van and let’s do it like we’ve always done it. Let’s start the way we always started,” and that felt comfortable to us.

And in doing any promotion or press, we didn’t make a video right out of the gate, we tried to temper all of that stuff because it was scary in a way. I knew that I was walking the plank on this. I knew that I was going to be scrutinized and I knew that there was going to be comparisons and things like that. And yeah, I mean it was tough. But it wasn’t that tough. I mean it was like if someone gave you stuff, you just say, ‘Screw you mother expletive.’”

Foo Fighters’ debut album will celebrate it’s 25th anniversary this month.

Former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum revealed recently on the ‘Appetite for Distortion Podcast’ that he came up with the guitar riff for Velvet Revolver’s 2003 song ‘Set Me Free’ that was featured in Ang Lee’s  version of the Hulk. Sorum said the following

“I didn’t come up with chords and stuff for any GNR stuff. But Velvet Revolver came around, I started writing more. I wrote the riff for a song called ‘Set Me Free’ on the first album, that was my riff. I remember playing that for Slash and him kinda looking at me and going, ‘Oh! That’s pretty good!’ That really opened up my songwriting. The fact that I had acknowledgement from this great guitarist.”

Axl Rose Attacks Police Officer Behavior

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose once again took to social media to weigh in on the whole debate over police brutality. Check out his tweet below and an explanation on what he was referring to.

story continued below…

According to CPR.com Rose was referring to the injury of Elijah McClain who suffered brain damage after being confronted by police, put in a headlock and injected by an EMT with a sedative. This week Aurora’s interim police chief, Vanessa Wilson announced she had fired three officers who took a photo reenacting the tragedy. Of course the police unions who back their members no matter what they do attacked Wilson.

“It’s reprehensible, and that is why they no longer work here.” Wilson said yesterday after announcing she fired all three officers involved in taking the photo.

“They don’t deserve to wear a badge any more,” Wilson said.

An attorney representing tMcClain family compared the joking photo the officers’ took to images of lynchings in which white people posed with the bodies of murdered Black people.

“Taking pictures, just like racists in the Jim Crow South. And that is not acceptable. It was not acceptable then and it is not acceptable now,” said lawyer Mari Newman. “The Aurora Police Department has a long, sordid horrible history of both racism and brutality. That needs to stop today.”

Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister Praises Guns N’ Roses

In a recent appearance on Daniel Sarkissian’s “Rock is Dead?” Documentary, Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French spoke about how Guns N’ Roses were one of the few bands to survive the explosion of grunge saying:

story continued below..

“The only band that leapfrogged and saved themselves was GUNS N’ ROSES, And my theory is that GUNS N’ ROSES was not perceived as a joke. They came out of L.A., but I think that Axl [Rose], first of all, had a great voice. I think that they were perceived as real, not fake. Like, they were real junkies, not pretend junkies. So there’s an authenticity. It’s all about authenticity, and grunge is all about authenticity. People wanted authenticity, so they got it with grunge. It wiped out the perceived frivolousness of hair metal, which is, ‘Hey, man. Let’s party. Let’s get the girls and drink.’ I think people just got sick of that, and they wanted [something more] authentic.”
