Billy Idol’s Bizarre Drunken Arrest

Back in the Early 90’s The Rock Star Would Be Arrest

The early 90’s were a mixed bag for Billy Idol. He released his last successful album, 1990’s “Charmed Life”, but also suffered injuries from a motorcycle crash that cost him a role in James Cameron’s movie ‘Terminator 2.’ He also released his career ending album ‘Cyberpunk.’ Today Rock N’ Roll True Stories takes a look at the incident.

The early 90’s were a difficult time for rockstar billy idol. Even though he had some success with his 1990 release charmed life he would suffer a major career setback around this time being involved in a pretty serious motorcycle accident costing him a big role in James Cameron’s movie Terminator 2. In addition to that he would suffer another career setback with the release of 1993’s Cyberpunk, which looking back was an album way ahead of its time. .Now another big story that happened in Idol’s life was a 1991 arrest that was probably been forgotten by most fans. Now back in October of 1991 Billy Idol and his manager would meet two women in a restaurant in west hollywood in LA. And one woman was named Amber Neville who was 22 at the time, while Idol was 36. After a cordial meal the two women offered to drive Idol and the manager back to their car. It was during the drive where everything took a nose dive. Idol who was sitting in the backseat with one of the women began shouting at her and punched her in the mouth and forehead. The singer was wearing large silver rings which cut the woman’s mouth, bruised her forehead and gave her a concussion. Now deputies would say a motorist who was following the car stopped and rendered aid to Neville who was taken to Cedar Sinai medical center. And Deputy district attorney bill clark claimed that Idol was pretty drunk at the time and the singer claimed to have stopped drinking before the attack for about half a year and it represented the first time he had a drink.. Now Idol pleaded guilty on January 21 st to one misdemeanor, battery and assault charges for punching a women he met at a west hollywood restaurant. The district attorney would go on to say that when Idol got out of the car he acted like an complete gentleman and has ever since. I don’t think Mr. Idol is a violent person and this was an aberration, but he came real close to going to jail. And Neville would claim to be happy with the sentencing, but no motivation has ever been released as to why he did what he did. So that does it for today’s video thanks for watching.
