Wolfgang Van Halen Praises Slash’s Guitar Playing

Wolfgang Van Halen, whose group Mammoh Wolfgang Van Halen is opening for Guns N’ Roses as part of their North America tour recently talked to and discussed what he’s learned from guitarist Slash. He would say the following:

I love just watching him and how effortless he makes it seem, everything he does. It’s always fun to just watch somebody like that do their thing, because you never really get to see it much and so being able to see it every night it’s a treat, for sure.

in 2010 during a speech which honored Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash at the Sunset Strip Music Festival he revealed he once met Axl Rose backstage at a Guns N’ Roses show revealing

“I met Axl after the show actually. I gave it to him, and as he was walking away I saw him throw it away.”

In a new interview with Appetite for Distortion’ podcast Cantrell reveal how he met Axl Rose years later and how Guns N’ Roses was a huge influence on Alice in Chains saying

“I did speak to him about it at a club in New York. We had never really met before, other than just kind of meeting backstage at the show in Seattle at the arena where I gave him the demo tape.

“I can’t remember what was on it. They were an important band to us, and Appetite [for Destruction] is one of a handful of records that’s one of those epic things that transcends space and time and the band. It’s a worldwide massive record and it’s perfect.”

“He comes over and is like, ‘I heard you telling that story about you giving me that demo tape – are you still with that girl that you met there?’

“It’s kind of just one of those fun things, when you’re proud of your band when you’re kind of unknown, and they were pretty damn huge. People still give me their demo tapes all the time.”

Axl Rose Discusses Izzy Stradlin at Recent Guns N’ Roses Gig

During a recent Guns N’ Roses concert in Atlantic City, the band’s frontman Axl Rose spoke briefly about Izzy Stradlin before the band performed ‘Don’t Cry.’ The frontman said the following

“This next one is the first song that was written for Guns N’ Roses,” he told the crowd. “I went over to Izzy [Stradlin]’s and I threw some rocks at his window. He came to the window and was worried I came over there to kick his but. We’d been in an argument for a few months. It was like the Blues Brothers. ‘We gotta get the band back together.’”

“We sat down,” he continued. “And I was like, ‘Hey, I got some really depressing lyrics.’ He was like, ‘I got a really depressing guitar part.’ I was like, ‘Perfect, we got it made.’”

Matt Sorum Discusses Guns N’ Roses Reunion

Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum is out promoting his new book and the topic of the ‘Not in This Lifetime Tour’ came up. Sorum told Billboard why he wouldn’t be involved in the reunion saying

People will ask me, ‘Don’t you want to be out on the road with those guys? Why aren’t you on the tour?'” he said. “And I’m, like, ‘Well, something else is in store. I had a baby. I’m doing different projects. I’m doing my own thing.’ That’s what the universe has intended for me. I’ve never tried to put a square peg into a round hole.”

Sorum’s new book ‘Double Talkin Jive’ is due out September 7th.


Guns N’ Roses Axl Rose Loses His Ex Father In-Law

Don Everly, the elder brother of the Everly Brothers passed away last weekend on, August 21st, His daughter Erin Everly used to be married to Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose and inspired their hit song ‘Sweet Child of Mine.’ Erin was one of three children Don leaves behind that he had with British-born actress Venetia Stevenson. The pair would separate in the 70’s over Don’s issues with substance abuse.

Axl Rose Pays Tribute to Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones

It was revealed today that 80 year old Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts passed away after a battle with an undisclosed illness. Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose took to social media to express his condolences. if you guys remember, Guns N’ Roses opened for The Rolling Stones in 1989 for four shows. Check out his tweet below..

‘Absurd’ Tops iTunes Rock Charts

The first week of Guns N’ Roses releasing their new song ‘Absurd’ it topped the iTunes rock charts, but a week later it’s not even in the Top 40. However, Sweet Child of Mine and Welcome to the Jungle are on the Top 40 charts.

‘Sweet Child of Mine’ Surpasses One Billion Streams on Spotify

It was announced this week that ‘Sweet Child of Mine’, Guns N’ Roses breakthrough track that propelled the group to top the Billboard chats in the summer of 1988 finally surpassed one billion streams on Spotify according to Forbes. The song surpassed one billion streams on YouTube back in October of 2019. Guns N’ Roses song ‘November Rain’ also surpassed one billion streams on YouTube a few years ago.

Guns N’ Roses Going After Counterfeit Clothing Sellers On ‘Not in This Lifetime Tour’

Guns N’ Roses are mobilizing their lawyers by going after people who sell counterfeit merchandise outside their gigs as part of this Not In This Lifetime Tour. I’ve personally seen these people selling knock off touch merch outside of venues. Bloomberg would report that the band partnered with Global Merchandising Services who has exclusive license to create their apparel they sell at shows. A lawyer for Global Merchandising Services would tell Bloomberg

Ahead of their North America tour, the band was able to get court orders in the cities they are performing in allowing police and federal marshals to seize unlicensed goods from bootlegers before and after concerts.

Global Merchandising has hired a nine person security team to seize the shirts. Outside Guns N’ Roses recent show in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the security team seized over 400 unlicensed shirts. In Detroit a few days later the team confiscated almost 250 shirts.

Guns N’ Roses Offer Support to Mammoth WVH

Guns N’ Roses are out on tour with Mammoth WVH, the solo act of Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang. Being the son of Eddie Van Halen of course comes with the haters. Wolfgang would post an exchange he had with one troll and Guns N’ Roses backed him up on social media.

Wolfgang posted an exchange he had with a hater who referred to him as and i quote “immature little child with a bad attitude” and that he was only on tour with Guns N’ Roses because he’s Eddie’s son.

Wolfie replied to the hater saying: “Hey man, they can kick me off the tour anytime they want if it’s not working out. My last name may have opened the door but it doesn’t keep me here, and it certainly doesn’t write, record, sing, or play the songs for me either. I’m the one doing that. So I kindly suggest you eat my entire expletive.”

Following Wolfie sharing the exchange on social media, Guns N’ Roses and former Van halen bassist Michael Anthony lended their support. Guns N’ Roses would write on Instagram 

“Don’t expect to be off the tour anytime soon,”

Then Anthony added, “good return Wolf. Expletive  those guys, keep killin’ it out there!”

Wolfie thanked people for all the support.

Axl Rose Praises Wolfgang Van Halen’s Album

As part of the 2021 ‘Not in This Lifetime’ tour, Guns N’ Roses have Mammoth WVH opening for them. The band is fronted by Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of Eddie Van Halen. During a recent interview with Ultimate Classic Rock Wolfgang revealed a pretty awesome gesture by Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose.


“He [Axl] told me that he really liked ‘Don’t Back Down,’ and that he really liked the video,He gave me a hug. I couldn’t believe it. He was a really sweet guy.

“The other day, Duff [McKagan, bass] came to our dressing room and he’s a sweetheart as well.

“He was telling us how Axl said that ‘Don’t Back Down’ is just straight ’ rock ‘n’ roll and I thought that was the biggest compliment I could have heard. It still feels like a dream.
