Slash Claims Reunion Was Only Supposed To Be a Handful of Shows

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash revealed during an interview with CNN recently that the ‘Not in This Lifetime Tour’ was supposed to be only initially a handful of shows saying

“When we got back together, that whole chemistry and that thing that makes what Guns N’ Roses is for me and Axl and Duff it all just sort of came together, After that long a period of time, we’d sort of forgotten what that was like. Everybody got along great. That’s actually why the tour has kept going, because initially it was just going to be a couple of shows.”

Rick Richards Discusses Izzy Stradlin’s Unreleased Material

Guitarist Rick Richards, whose had a long history collaborating with Izzy Stradlina recently spoke with Ultimate Classic Rock. Richards was originally a member of Izzy Stradlin’s post Guns N’ Roses project ‘Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds.’ Richard was best known up until that point as a member of the Georgia Satellites. Since the Ju Ju Hounds disbanding in 1994, he’s frequently collaborated with Stradlin. The exchange went as follows:

story continued below…

You’re perhaps one of the guys who has gotten to know Izzy Stradlin the most, doing as many albums with him as you have. What’s your favorite thing about working with Izzy?
The [best] thing about working with Izzy is just hanging out with him. He’s a great cat, man. You know, Izzy Stradlin dances to the beat of his own drummer, if you know what I mean.

Oh sure.
He does his thing, man. You don’t really impede on that. But yeah, we’ve spent a lot of time together. A lot of time together.

Do you get the sense that there’s more music to be made with Izzy?
Yeah, the last time I spoke with him was during the pandemic, like eight months ago. I said, “Look, if you ever feel like doing it again, I’m at your disposal.” He goes, “Yeah, you know, you’re the first I’ll call.” I haven’t heard from him, but you know, we cut so much material. There’s so much Izzy material that’s never seen the light of day that needs to. There’s tons of stuff out there. I don’t know if he’s ever going to release it or not.

Here’s hoping we can finally hear that music someday and hopefully that Izzy rejoins Guns N’ Roses on stage. Only time will tell. Peace
